About me

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Comrie, Perthshire specialising in working with trauma and neurodivergence. After studying philosophy at university I worked for many years in the charity sector, supporting families and individuals in a variety of contexts, including those with additional support needs, new families and mothers postnatally.
I have seven years experience in working with those who have experienced complex trauma and its impacts, particularly those who have suffered abuse (current and historical). I have a long background in mindfulness which can be useful to clients experiencing anxiety and stress. I am a visual person and use visualisation and imagery often in my work. As an autistic person I find that I am able to notice connections and detail that may often not be clear. I work in an intuitive way and share how and what I am experiencing with my clients. Having this lived experience can be useful both for other neurodivergent clients and neurotypical clients looking for an alternative way of working and seeing the world. I offer online sessions and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy with my herd.
I aim to provide clients with a safe, confidential space in which to be heard and accepted as you are. I offer a non judgemental space for you to share with me what you choose. My role is to journey into your emotional landscape with you, to understand what the world looks like from your experiencing. By offering empathy, honesty and acceptance in this relationship it allows change to begin to take place, and for you to begin to find the answers you may be looking for.
I work with adults aged 16 and up.
I am a member of BACP and work to their ethical framework.

Counselling

I believe that it is through developing a trusting relationship that change can happen. Often we don't feel comfortable sharing certain parts of ourselves with those that are closest to us, for fear of burdening them. I offer a space for you to do this. I strive to work in the best way for each of my clients individually, which means I do not have a particular agenda in mind other than to be fully present with you. Your experiences are unique, my role is to try to step into your way of experiencing the world and share my reflections with you. In doing this I hope to help you make the changes you wish to make in order to live the life you want. I know that taking the first step towards change can be scary, but I hope that by taking that step together can make it feel easier.
I would class myself as an eclectic counsellor though my base is person centred. I am able to offer creative ways of working and am client directed so will work in the way you feel is best.
Finding the right counsellor for you is important, therefore I am happy to talk with you on the phone to explore this, free of charge, prior to booking your first session. We can discuss any concerns you may have about coming for counselling and I am happy to answer any questions.
As we are all individual, how the counselling sessions are structured is something we will agree together. Usually online sessions will last for 50 minutes and are weekly or fortnightly. In person Equine sessions last 60 or 90 minutes. However, I am happy to work in a way that is most comfortable for you.
I charge £60 per one to one online session. Equine Facilitated sessions cost £85 for 60 minutes, or £105 for 90 minutes session.
